Khon Kaen people invites runners to join the AIMS-standard “Khon Kaen International Marathon 2023” to compete for the Royal trophies and over 2 million baht prizes. Nearly 400,000 baht will also be offered for Thai runners who beat the set records. The event also features additional activities for the Children Day, with food and drink festival, all for celebration of KKU’s 60th anniversary.
Tuesday December 12, 2023 at Supachalasai Conference Room, Department of Physical Education, Bangkok – the Khon Kaen International Marathon 2024 committee led by Mr. Charnchai Sornsriwichai, Vice Governor of Khon Kaen Province; Mr. Sukit Sirinorakul, Chairman of Khon Kaen University Operational Promotion Committee; Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; and the key event supporters: Mr. Witsanu Watanavecharat, Assistant to the Director of the Northeast Operation Office; Mr. Kittirote Pongsrisuebsuk, Vice President for Sales & Marketing. Lily Phrama Co. Ltd., joined at the press conference to release news about “Khon Kaen International Marathon 2024 (KKIM2024)” that is scheduled on Saturday January 13 and Sunday January 14, 2024. On this occasion, the above distinguished executives invited people to join the Marathon event, which is guaranteed of the safety with its world standard of racing route by AIMS. Winners have a chance to compete for Royal trophies from His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri SIrindhorn, and prizes of over 2,000,000 baht.

Moreover, if you like, you may enjoy camping in a tent at the area provided near the race release point. The place is well equipped with toilets, showers, security system, all for free. In Khon Kaen, there are also many grades of hotels for you to choose. Khon Kaen people are excited to welcome you all. More points are added this year for the cheering team of the community than ever before. The traffic standard is also upgraded to make everything convenient. I’m confident that Khon Kaen city is ready in all aspects to welcome runners from all over the world.”

Mr. Sukit Sirinorakul, Chairman of Khon Kaen University Operational Promotion Committee explained about the specialties of this event, “This year, the event is on the children day on Saturday January 13, 2024. So we arrange the fun run for health at a distance of 4.5 km. Besides, children and their families will also enjoy the activities organized for the children day. Another highlight is the food and drink festival that consists of over 200 booths for runners to enjoy.”

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University added that Khon Kaen University has the intention in social dedication and sees the importance in promoting human resources through development in different aspects, especially in sports, which is the basis of development of mental and physical health. Thus, the University has continuously supported Khon Kaen International Marathon. This year, it is a good chance for Khon Kaen University is reaching its 60th year of foundation, so the University is prepared to organize big events like the Marathon for the occasion celebration.

The 19th Khon Kaen International Marathon is organized in 4 types: Fun Run – 4.5 km, scheduled on Saturday January 13, 2024, the release time being at 7:00 a.m.; and Marathon – 42.195 km., release time at 03:00 a.m.; Half Marathon – 21.1 km., release time at 04:00 a.m.; and Mini Marathon – 11.35 km., release time at 04:45 a.m.
Winners of the Over All Category of Marathon, both male and female will receive the Royal Trophy from His Majesty the King and a cash award of 100,000 baht. Winners of Half Marathon, both male and female will receive the Royal Trophy from Her Majesty the Queen Mother and a cash award of 50,000 baht. Winners of Mini Marathon, both male and female, will receive the Royal Trophy from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a cask award of 20,000 baht. There are also trophies and prizes for the first runner-ups and second runner-ups of the Over All Category. For the age group, there are the prizes and trophies for the first 5 winners of each group. Moreover, there are special prizes for Thai runners totaling 324,000 baht who win the Overall Type of the Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon.
